Traverse and area computation

Enter the courses of a closed lot traverse, or import them from a file. First see the closure as measured, before any correction. Then apply the correction, by the compass or transit rule or by least squares, to get adjusted coordinates and the area, computed two ways so you can check one against the other. Corners shared with adjoining lots can be adopted and held fixed.

CourseBearingDistance (m)Remove

Pick N or S, the degrees, minutes and seconds, then E or W. For a due direction use 0° (due north or south) or 90° (due east or west). The last course returns to station 1. Press Enter in the distance box to go to the next course.

Import reads CSV or text files (bearings and distances, point coordinates, or angles and distances), DXF, LandXML and Leica GSI. You can also drop a file here. It is read in your browser and not uploaded.

Tie to corner 1

Optional. Tie the lot to a reference monument or to a corner of an adjoining lot that already has an approved plan. If the tie point has coordinates, corner 1 takes its coordinates from the tie.

Shared corners with adjoining lots

Where a corner of this lot is also a corner of an adjoining lot that already has an approved plan, enter it here. Adopt the corner to use that lot's established coordinates as yours: it is held fixed, and the correction moves the other points around it. The technical description and the plan notes then state the shared corners and the lines common with them.

Two corners that are next to each other and belong to the same adjoining lot make the line between them a common line, held to that lot's record.

Common boundaries with adjoining lots

Where a line of this lot is shared with a lot that has an approved plan, enter that plan's bearing and distance. The tool compares it with your line and flags any difference beyond the tolerance.
